What are acupuncture and moxibustion?

Acupuncture and moxibustion treatments is called whole-body treatment (holistic treatment).

Acupuncture and moxibustion are natural therapies that aim to treat disorders by enhancing the body's own natural healing powers. This process is achieved by stimulating the body through the insertion of metal needles into acupuncture points or the warming of moxa placed on acupuncture points.   Acupuncture and moxibustion are also recognized as complementary and alternative medicine that maintain health.   These therapies activate the immune system, by improving blood circulation, homeostatic functions, and stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system.

More detailed information can be found here.

What are Shiatsu and Anma Massage?

In Japan, Shiatsu therapists must obtain the national qualification "Anma massage and Shiatsu practitioner" to practice the treatment as a profession. Our practitioners are qualified.

Anma is not as well known as "shiatsu", which is well recognised abroad. in Japan, both shiatsu and anma techniques are elaborately combined to enhance the therapeutic effect of the treatment.

Basically, both treatments are carried out over clothes or towels, and although there are some differences in technique,  they share the same idea that "find and treat the unwell parts of the body while examining the body with the hands".

What is the manipulative treatment of Seitai?

The literal translation of Seitai in Japanese is to bring the body to balance, In good health, the body can be considered as existing in a "Seitai" state.   Seitai treatment can improve posture thus enabling the body is functioning at its optimum level. It works on the principle that any pain in the body is representative of an underlying disharmony within the body. Such disharmonies are often a result of organ weakness and disease or poor posture and unhealthy lifestyle habits.

The treatment applies pressure to trigger points in order to relieve pain and discomfort as well as joint adjustment to realign the body and massage away muscular tension, allowing the body to relax. These points are selected because of their ability to quickly provide direct stimulation to the internal organs and systems of the body.  This improves the functioning of the musculoskeletal system. Clients often feel invigorated, warm and clear-headed as the body begins to re-address its imbalances.

For diseases such as rheumatism, hernia, arthritis, severe back pain or sciatic neuralgia or pain due to sports injuries, this therapy can be suitable. It is also effective in the improvement of the neck and spinal conditions, post-natal hip issues, and tinnitus (ear noise) by the manipulation of the jaw bone.

This has the effect of increasing blood flow and lymph circulation which in turn stimulates oxygen flow through the blood vessels. Facial acupuncture results in a gentle plumping and shaping of the face, helping to reduce wrinkles and sagging. The health benefits are the relaxation of the muscles in the forehead and neck which can reduce such symptoms eyestrain and migraine.

Pelvic Correction,  Postpartum  and Jaw Joint Correction (TMJD syndrome correction)

Pelvic correction is a treatment that restores the pelvis, which has become distorted due to various factors, to its correct position. We will massage the muscles around your pelvis and restore your overall balance. Pelvic correction is also recommended for people with symptoms such as lower back pain, stiff shoulders, poor posture, coldness, swelling, irregular menstruation, and menstrual pain.

Postpartum pelvic correction is also important, and adjusting the balance of the body is useful for health and beauty.

TMJD* syndrome (Temporomandibular joint disorders) correction improves jaw mobility, strengthens jaw muscles, and releases jaw pain or tenderness. The exact cause of TMJD is often unclear and can involve a combination of factors, including jaw injury, teeth grinding (bruxism), arthritis, stress, or a misalignment of the jaw or teeth.

*the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is also referred to as the muscles surrounding the jaw.

Please click Physiotherapy/Rehabilitation for details.

This therapy is recommended for anyone struggling with chronic pain or injury, particularly if it is difficult to remain motivated to continue alone with rehabilitation exercises. This course is also beneficial for those who are active and regularly doing sports, and want to recover quickly after injury, maximise performance and prevent injuries. The therapist will check your body condition and work with you on your individual symptoms and will then suggest exercises to enable you to continue the rehabilitation on your own and between sessions.

Cupping works by applying cups in relevant areas.

The technique creates suction which has an effect on underlying tissue, particularly the fascia. As a result, tissues begin to soften, increasing the range of movement in the joint or surrounding area. This helps release fascia adhesion and provides an improvement in movement restrictions and muscle pains. Please see here for details.
